NEWS from HALARA -- It was with great sadness that HALARA members learned of the passing of Bet Hodkin a stalwart member of the group since its foundation in 1998. Long will, Little Bet, as she was known to her many friends, be remembered by us all. Little Bet was involved in many aspects of the club. Regularly attending short mat bowls, sequence dancing, coffee mornings, and the outings. She took turns on the Tea Rota, made cakes for the Coffee Mornings, as well as being co-founder with Ann Seager, of the Games Afternoons, Little Bet also organised Theatre Trips, with Len Sharp’s assistance. She was a keen on the game of Rummikub and her skill at the game greatly impressed the other players. One of the celebrations for Little Bet’s 90th Birthday last October was at the HALARA Members meeting. Bet had a beautiful birthday cake from her daughters, Sandra & Susan and a bouquet from HALARA members. This lovely lady will be sorely missed and all, will I am sure, feel it has been a privilege to have known her.

Bet is seen in the photograph above with her daughters, Sandra & Susan, joined HALARA in 1998.  Photographs by Pat Hubbard.
